6/1/2014 - TotalCard Announces New Attendance Tracking ModuleTotalCard is excited to announce the addition of Attendance Tracking to its line of campus card solutions. This application will allow campuses to seamlessly integrate with their Student Information System and track student attendance in large classes. Mississippi State will be the first school to fully implement the solution before classes begin again this fall. Students will be asked to present an ID to a reader at the front of each classroom when they arrive. Attendance will be counted for the ten minutes prior to and ten minutes following the start of class. Any student that arrives after that will be considered “absent”. “This system will help teachers to enforce attendance policies that would otherwise be extremely difficult to manage in large classes,” explains Jerry Acy, president of Software Data Systems and director of software development for TotalCard. “The university will install one reader for every approximate 100 students, allowing for quick and easy check in when students arrive to class.” The attendance tracking module is an excellent addition to the TotalCard suite of campus solutions, which includes Access Control, Point of Sale, Time and Attendance, Visitor Management, Event Validation and more.
